Greetings families!
I hope that you have survived this cold snap! I must say I miss the warmer weather! Conferences are going to be taking place next week, so that means students will have an early dismissal on Thursday, April 7th and Friday, April 8th. Dismissal will start at 11:30. I will be sending out email confirmations of times for everyone, please email me back to confirm the time or to let me know if it won't work. (I have already sent some of these out, so if we have already been in contact, don't worry about it!) We are currently working with the middle school to set up some times for school counselors and middle schoolers to come visit and answer questions as well as a chance for 5th graders to visit the middle school. I will give you an update once we have solid dates for those. A date that I do have is for a parent night at the middle school for incoming 6th grade families. This is a parent-only event that will take place on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00-7:15pm at FHTMS. On Monday, we were able to start Book Buddies with Ms. Adam's 5th grade class. Students shared an All About Me page and then helped their Kindergartener buddies fill out the page. 5th graders did a really great job working with their buddies, I was really proud of the leadership that they showed! I've included some pictures below. Next week on Wednesday students will have Farm to School. Next week we are also doing an Autism Acceptance Spirit Week. Please see the attached flyer for more information about each day! Unfortunately Starbase is over, but students did receive a folder with some pretty cool stuff to take home with them. Included in there is a coupon for a local rocketry store to get another engine for student rockets if you wish to launch again. Included in my original email are some links to photos from our field trips throughout the year. Please let me know if you have any trouble viewing! I hope you all have an amazing evening! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold

Greetings families!
I hope that you are all having a wonderful week so far! Today, students starting decorating their rockets in preparation for our rocket launch day on Monday 3/21. We just got the go ahead that visitors are welcome to our rocket launch, which will take place outside on the field starting at 1:15. Our launch will last about an hour, so if you want to join us, you are welcome to meet us outside! Our last day at Starbase will be next Thursday, 3/24. Tomorrow, Wednesday 3/16 we have Farm to School! Students will be inside and we will be making corn pancakes with maple syrup. This is a reminder that there is no school for students this Friday, 3/18 as it is a teacher inservice day. One of the things that I am planning on doing during that teacher work time is sending out a survey about parent conference times, which will be taking place on April 7th & 8th in the afternoon. In social studies, we are nearing the end of our westward expansion simulation, so students will soon find out if they make it to Oregon or not! I hope that you all have a wonderful afternoon! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold Hi all!
We just got back from a GREAT day at Starbase! We started building rockets today, got to see retired planes at the Boneyard, and programed robots! Students also got a shirt or a hat from Starbase as a keepsake. Our schedule for the 3 remaining Starbase days are: Monday 3/14 - Day 3 at Starbase Monday 3/21 - Day 4 Rocket Launch at Orchard Thursday 3/24 - Day 5 at Starbase Keep an eye out for the superintendent's newsletter this week, there is going to be a spotlight on Starbase! I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold Greetings families!
I hope that you all had an enjoyable February break! Tomorrow students will have their first Starbase field trip! We are so excited for all of the wonderful activities we have the opportunity to do! Please remember that students MUST be to school on time tomorrow as we are leaving as soon as the bus gets here (around 8:45). If students did not order a school lunch today they will need to pack a lunch for tomorrow. Also, it gets very cold and windy on base, so make sure students dress warmly because we will have recess outside tomorrow. Our second Starbase field trip date is Wednesday, March 9th (next week). That is all I have right now to update you, so have a great rest of your week! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold |
