Hello all!
We had a lovely snowy day at Orchard today! I would like to give a reminder that snow boots are a requirement every day from now until springtime, even if there is no snow. I also had a lot of students without snowpants today. I would recommend that snowpants come to school every day and I'll let students know if they don't have to wear them. There is space at school to leave these items if students don't want to bring stuff back and forth every day. A celebration from this week is that we got a new student! We are very excited to welcome her to our class. Today, I sent home Dreambox login information for all students today. There are directions for students to login as well as a way for you to create an account as a parent to monitor your student's progress. It is not a requirement for students to use Dreambox at home, but it is a good tool to practice math skills if students need to stay home due to quarantine or for extra practice. I will be out of the building on Friday, so students will have a substitute that day. We also earned a whole-school celebration so students will have Game Day on Friday. Students may bring a board game from home if they wish and I will have games available to play with classmates at the end of the day. (Any games brought from home need to be school appropriate). If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know! Have a great afternoon! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold

Greetings families!
I hope that you all had a restful break! It was really nice to come back to some snow this week! With the first snowfall, I thought it would be a good time to go over winter gear guidelines at school. If it is below 32 degrees, students are expected to wear snowpants and a jacket (snowpants are also required whenever there is snow on the ground). Gloves and a hat are recommended. All students are required to have boots regardless of weather from now until springtime. If you need help getting any of these supplies, please let me know! We have extras here at school that students can use. Students are also welcome to leave certain items at school so they don't have to carry them back and forth each day. We did have a pair of student snowpants go missing today, so if you could please make sure to check to make sure your student has the correct snowpants, that would be great! The last name is written on the snowpants that have been misplaced. We have started our Web of Life science unit. We started off by talking about food chains and we will continue to learn more as we move through the unit! Have a wonderful afternoon and happy December! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold |
