Greetings families!
I am so excited to announce that we will be having our first field trip, next Wednesday, November 3rd to the Audubon center. Permission slips will be going home tomorrow. I apologize for the quick turnaround on this, but I was waiting for confirmation of transportation for the trip. I have attached a copy of the permission slip below, but I wanted to mention that the trip is $8 per student. All students will be able to attend regardless of ability to pay. On the permission slip there is an option for families to pay, or to have the PTO cover a scholarship for the amount. We are not allowed to have parent chaperones at this time due to Covid restrictions. Important information: this field trip will be held completely outside so students MUST be prepared for the weather. As we will be doing aquatic-related activities near a pond, waterproof footwear is also recommended (we won't intentionally be going into the water, but accidents happen). Students either need to pack a lunch, or be ready to order a bag lunch from school; this decision needs to be finalized by Monday, November 1st so I can place orders with our cafeteria. Options for a school-provided bagged lunch are a turkey sandwich or tomato sandwich. Please return permission slips with cash/check (if applicable) as soon as possible. Please note that the day before our field trip, November 2nd, there is no school for students, so I need all permission slips back no later than Monday, November 1st. It is also super important that students are on time to school on Wednesday so that they do not miss the bus! In other news, this week is International Bat Week! At the end of the week, we will be learning about bats, why they are important, and having a celebration around bats by playing games and doing bat-related crafts! If your student or family is interested in learning more about Bat Week, you can find more information at: https://batweek.org/ If you know of any fun bat-related resources, games, etc. Please feel free to share! Upcoming Events: -October 29 Friday: Early Release day. Dismissal starts at 12:25 - Nov. 1 Monday: Audubon Permission slip due and lunch choice decision deadline -Nov. 2 Tuesday: No school for students (teacher inservice) -Nov. 3 Wednesday: Audubon Field Trip - be prepared for the weather! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a marvelous Monday! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold

Hello families!
It is finally starting to feel like fall! That means that students should be bringing sweatshirts, jackets, etc. to school. Remember, students spend an average of 45 minutes a day outside! If it's less than 50 degrees outside, students are expected to wear long pants and long sleeves. Students are welcome to bring extra layers to school that can stay here if that works best for your student! Student pictures have come in and will be going home tomorrow. If you didn't order photos, students will still receive a packet with information about how to order photos if you wish and one small photo to keep! Photo retake day will be November 8th If you made a Scholastic book order from September, I did get a notification that orders have been delayed. I haven't even gotten a notification that the order has shipped yet, so it will be a while before those book arrive. I apologize for the delay on those books. If you wanted to order books for October, please place the order by October 20th and know that the books will most likely take a long time to get here. I hope that you all have a wonderful evening!
