Greetings families!
I hope that you are all enjoying the first days of summer! I wanted to thank everyone for a great school year and best of luck to everyone transitioning to the middle school for 6th grade! A couple of things: 1. If you find any items that belong to my classroom like books or Chromebook chargers, please return them to the office when you can! 2. Please pick up report cards from the office if you haven't already. The office staff should be in periodically this week, but I would call first! 3. Linked below are notes from our Middle School visit. It is the advice from the current middle school students. 4. Also linked below are photos from the end of the school year. Please don't share the link with people outside of our classroom community! A Note from Farm-to-School: Hello Parents of students entering 5th and 6th grade, Common Roots is pleased to announce that we will be teaching 2 sections of our popular Farm to Go, Student-Chef classes this summer. Please see the attached flyer for details. We have been teaching this course to middle schoolers for 14 years. Our chefs have taught and prepared over 14,000 family meals for our Farm to Go students to take home for your family meal. With our talented Chef Educator, Rebecca Chapdelaine, we have been able to plan around food allergies, and vegetarian preferences. The sign-up is through our SB Park and Rec Department. The link is below for your reference. I hope that you all have an AMAZING summer! Lots of love, Ms. Petzold

Greetings families!
Today we went to the Middle School for a visit. Our class was able to listen to some former Orchard students talk about the middle school and meet some of the teachers that they will have next year. Fifth Grade Fun Day - Tuesday, June 7th - Tomorrow I will be sending home a permission form. Please sign and return. - The second page is a waiver that needs to be completed for students to be able to use the facilities. There is also a link to an online safety waiver below. I think both the online and physical need to be filled out, but I'll let you know if I get clarification. - We do need more parent chaperones for this trip, please email Anna Leavey if you are interested at [email protected] - NO electronics. I will be happy to keep electronics safely locked in the classroom. If any adults see a student's phone, they will be confiscated. - Don't forget a change of clothes and a swimsuit! - Lunch is provided, but please have students bring a snack with them. Civil War Project Day: Thursday, June 9th from 8:30-9:15am Please come and see your student's Civil War Presentation! You will be able to walk around and see the presentations of our entire class! (This is also a great time to bring home any materials for summer!) Here's hoping for a sunny, beautiful day! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold |
