Hi all!
Happy New Year! As a school, we have earned 100 big apple cards and are celebrating tomorrow afternoon with a Game Day! Students will have an hour to play different board games/card games with their friends. Students are allowed to bring games into school that they can share with their classmates. Games should be school appropriate (school-appropriate language, no weapons, etc.) and it's important that all students be responsible with the game materials so that nobody's games get lost/ruined. I know it will be a really fun afternoon! Today, we had our January Farm-to-School lesson where students learned about their stomach microbiomes and got to try a black bean dip that was a huge hit! A lot of students asked for the recipe which will be in the Core tomorrow. With the muddy weather that we are currently having, I wanted to ask that students have shoes other than Crocs to wear outside. Students have been coming in from recess covered in mud and then spend a lot of time wiping mud off of their Crocs with paper towels instead of doing their work. They are still welcome inside, but please make sure they have another set of shoes. Also, a lot of students have been bringing in jibbitz to show others/share. I would like to ask that no loose jibbitz come to school because it has become a distraction. Any jibbitz that are already in the Crocs are fine, just please don't bring in the bags of jibbitz. I hope that you all have a wonderful afternoon! Sincerely, Mrs. Reagan (pronounced ree-gan) (my email is still [email protected] but I am going by Mrs. Reagan now!)

Remember, NO SCHOOL on Friday, December 23rd!
Greetings all! I can't believe that tomorrow is our last day of school in 2022! Tomorrow morning, starting at 8:30 is the Winter Sing. To minimize the spread of germs, students will stay in their classrooms to watch the different grades sing together. I believe Mr. T is recording it for families as well! Students will be meeting with their K Buddies tomorrow for a winter craft that Ms. Adams and I are SUPER excited about! Look forward to those coming home tomorrow afternoon! If students have winter gear that lives at school, this might be a good time for them to bring it home so it can get washed, so students may need an extra bag to bring items home in. I also make students bring home all water bottles for a winter wash! I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season and I will see your students on January 3rd, 2023! Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan P.S. Mr. Reagan and I got our wedding photos back last night, so I included one in case you were curious! Important Dates:
Greetings families! I hope that you have had an excellent week so far! Tonight is International Night! From 6:00-8:00pm at Orchard, students and their families are going to be sharing information and food from different countries around the world! All students and families are welcome to attend! You might even see me there! Tomorrow is an Early Release Day, dismissal starts at 12:30. Also, please keep an eye on the weather. Who knows, we may have a snow day tomorrow if the weather forecast is accurate. Please be safe if you are commuting tomorrow! Students have earned a classroom celebration! We will be celebrating on Monday with a Stuffy Day! Students are welcome to bring a stuffy to school that is the size of their desk or smaller. If students don't have a stuffy, they are welcome to bring a pillow or blanket to snuggle up with during our silent reading time! I hope that you all have a great evening (and a potential early start to the weekend, fingers crossed!) Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan Important Date:
Friday, Dec. 16th is an Early Release Day! Greetings families! I hope you are having an excellent week! I don't have a lot of news this week, but last Friday we had time with our Book Buddies and did a Winter-themed Bingo activity where students walked around with their buddies to learn more about each other. It was a really fun activity for all! In math, we are about to start our next unit which is all about FRACTIONS. Students will learn how to add and subtract fractions and then we will move on to multiplying fractions. We are also about to start a new Swap Block, where students will be returning to me for another science unit. That's all this week, short and sweet! Have a great afternoon! Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan Greetings families!
I hope that you all had a fantastic Fall Break! Today, we had our December Farm-to-School Lesson, where students made their own tea blends using things like lemon balm, chamomile, and peppermint. (Don't worry, there isn't any caffeine in the ingredients we put in!) They learned about the different benefits that each herb gave to the body and students came up with some really clever names for their tea blends! To use their tea bags, add to a mug, then pour boiling water over the tea and let steep for about 5 minutes. We also learned about the idea of hygge, which is the idea of prioritizing coziness and comfort in order to increase one's happiness. Hopefully, the tea blends help create hygge at home as it gets colder! In Number Corner we just finished working on identifying coordinates on a grid. Please ask your student about it! We are also starting Number Corner class rotations, so students are working with different teachers on our Number Corner concepts. That's all for this week, have a great afternoon! Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan Greetings families!
I'm really looking forward to meeting with y'all next week for conferences! I did try to put in 10 minutes of buffer time between each appointment, but please try to be on time so that I can keep on schedule! I do ask that students do not attend these conferences, but if you have a younger child that needs to come with you due to childcare needs, we can make that work! Students earned their 100 apples today and celebrated by making some playlists today. After break we are going to start our D.A.R.E. lessons with officer Bri. These will happen every Tuesday for 10 weeks. As the weather turns colder, please make sure that students come prepared for the weather. That means boots, snowpants, jackets, gloves, and hats. If your family needs assistance getting these materials for your student, please let me know! Speaking of clothes, our lost and found is OVERFLOWING. If you have an in-person conference next week, please check out the tables in the lobby to see if you recognize any items that your student may have lost! Break times are really great opportunities to read with your student, and it's wonderful practice for them! Have a wonderful break! Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan Important Dates:
Hi all! I can't believe that it's already November! It is time to start scheduling conferences. Please fill out the form linked in the email (also linked below) to schedule a conference. Please complete this by next Wednesday, November 9th. I will send out a final meeting time next week after receiving all forms. Please read the directions at the top before filling out the form! We had an amazing field trip last week to Shelburne Farms! I have put a link below to a Google Folder of photos that were taken on the trip. Please don't share the link to the folder with anyone else, but there is the ability to save photos of your student if you wish. That is all from me this week, I hope you all have an amazing afternoon! Sincerely, Mrs. Petzold Reagan Important dates:
- Field trip tomorrow (Thursday) - Early release day: Friday, October 26th! Dismissal starts at 12:30 Greetings families! I hope that you are having a wonderful day and enjoying this warm weather! This is just a reminder that our field trip is tomorrow! We will be outside for almost the entire day from 9:30-1:30, so please have your student dress for the weather! It looks like a high of 62 degrees tomorrow, with it staying in the 50's for the majority of our trip. Students will also be getting close to a pond, so bringing an extra pair of shoes/socks or a pair of waterproof shoes wouldn't be a bad idea! Students should also have their snack, water bottle, and lunch. (Some students did order a bagged lunch from school, in which case they just need a snack!) I'll make sure to share photos from our field trip next week! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold/Mrs. Reagan Hi families!
I apologize for the late notice, but there was a cancellation at Shelburne Farms so we were able to get in for a field trip next Thursday, October 27th. I sent home a permission slip with students today. If you could please return the forms back asap, that would be amazing. The field trip costs $8 per student, but if that is a hardship for your family, we do have scholarships available. More information can be found on the form. I have also provided a digital copy below for you to look at. On a personal note, my wedding was a ton of fun and the weather was gorgeous! I shared some photos with students today so they could see what I was up to this weekend! I really appreciate the hard work that they put in with our substitute for the days I was out. I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon! Sincerely, Mrs. Reagan (Ms. Petzold legally for now!) Important News:
Greetings families! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend! I went down to Stowe on Monday and played disc golf for the first time with Ms. Adams and had a blast! We have officially finished our first science unit and students had their first day of Social Studies today, where they will be focusing on American Government. I heard from Mrs. Bliss and Miss Barry that our students did a fantastic job! Please as the weather starts to get colder, make sure that students have the appropriate layers to be outside with. On Friday for Book Buddies, they will be going outside if weather permits, so make sure they have appropriate gear! Tomorrow, October 12th is Anti-Bullying Awareness Day. Students are encouraged to wear orange tomorrow to raise awareness. (I didn't give a reminder at the end of the day, it was just mentioned during announcements, so this might be new information to some). Mrs. Tate will be in for me for the 3 days that I am out and I will not be checking my emails at all, so please call or email the office if you have any questions/concerns/changes. Sue O'Brien's email is [email protected] and Allyson Yandow's email is [email protected] I know that our students will be their absolute best while I'm gone. When I come back I'm going to start going by Mrs. Reagan, but my email will not change until I legally change my name (which might take a while), so I'll make sure to keep you updated on any changes there. I hope that you all have an awesome weekend! Sincerely, Ms. Petzold/Mrs. Reagan |
